Released on the 12th May to coincide with a stunning new exhibition courtesy of V & A which will see a stunning collection of Supremes memorabilia including over fifty of the girls stage costumes during their early days as the Primettes, and through their glory years during which time they graced the stage of the Ed Sullivan show. The exhibition will also include those fabulous gold outfits worn on their final performance in which they sang the now legendary song ‘Someday We’ll Be Together’

This is not a straight clothes exhibition but will also include the groups LP covers, archival video footage of the girls in their heyday, as well as up to date interviews with original group member Mary Wilson and Motown’s in-house artist developer Ms Maxine Powell. As black role models during the turbulent 1960’s the music of the Supremes during this troubled period defined popular music and helped create the now legendary Motown Sound of Young America.

Additional photographs and 1960’s magazine material amongst the backdrop of the music made famous by this group make this a ‘must see’ exhibition and this double CD is a wonderful introduction to the music of the Supremes. OK, so there’s nothing new here for the die hard Motown collectors that we haven’t seen before so without boring the reader about each well known track I’ve decided to simply provide a track listing for your attention. Clearly as can be seen it features all the main hit 45’s from the 60 & 70’s featuring Diana Ross, Jean Terrell and a few LP tracks as well.
